Scenic Luxury Cruises & Tours
In preparation for the celebrations of one of Europe’s greatest rivers, this Danube Day luxury all-inclusive cruise operator Scenic Luxury Cruises & Tours (www.scenic.co.uk) is highlighting its wide range of sailings, excursions, and unique Enrich experiences along the richest river of them all.
Celebrated on June 29 each year, Danube Day brings together the ten countries the Danube River flows through, to commemorate a river that unites cultures, cities, history, and natural beauty. With nearly 1,800 miles waiting to be explored, there has never been a better time to sail on one of Scenic’s seven itineraries along the Danube River, with prices starting from £2,430 per couple.
Highlights of Scenic’s cruises along the Danube include:
The 8-day Danube Discovery
Sailing from Germany’s historic city of Nuremberg to the capital of Hungary, Budapest, the 8-day Danube Discovery cruise encompasses all that makes the Danube beloved. Depart Nuremberg before sailing to Regensburg. Situated at the confluence of three rivers, explore the 2,000-year-old town on foot or cycle to the famous Walhalla monument. Learn the history of one of the greatest musicians of all time, Mozart, in Salzburg before enjoying an exclusive Scenic Enrich ‘Best of the Sound of Music and Salzburg Show’. Embark on a guided bike ride along the Danube or visit a true fairy-tale castle, Burg Aggstein, from Dürnstein before arriving in the City of Music, Vienna. Here, experience musical heritage at an exclusive Scenic Enrich event during a private classical evening concert at the opulent Palais Liechtenstein. Arrive in Budapest and begin with a guided tour of the magnificent city or choose to relax and unwind in the famous Thermal Baths and Spa. Or, if a more active excursion is preferred, hike Buda Hill for stunning views of the castle and city. Sailing from Nuremberg to Budapest, the 8-day Danube Discovery calls in at Regensburg, Salzburg, Melk, Dürnstein and Vienna, with prices starting from £3,285 per couple based on an August 2 departure date on board the Scenic Jewel.
The 9-day Black Sea Explorer with Bucharest
Crossing the East of Europe to the edge of the Black Sea, Scenic’s 9-day Black Sea Explorer with Bucharest sails from Budapest to Bucharest on an unforgettable cruise. At the beginning of the voyage, arrive in Kalocsa, a historic Hungarian town with some of the richest folk art in the world. Here, select between learning about the origins of Kalocsa’s traditional needlework and embroidery craftsmanship or attending a traditional Hungarian horse show on the Great Hungarian Plain. Explore the small Croatian city with a turbulent past, Osijek, with a walking tour or join a boat cruise to the Kopacki Rit, one of Europe’s largest natural wetlands. Arrive at the ‘Door to Central Europe’, Serbia’s capital, Belgrade, and join a walking tour around this richly historic city or enjoy a cycling tour along the banks of the Danube. In the evening, be amazed at a classical concert at the largest orthodox temple in the Balkans, St. Sava Temple, during an exclusive Scenic Enrich experience. Cruise through the spectacular scenery of the Iron Gates before selecting between a full day excursion to Veliko Tarnovo and Arbanassi or a guided city tour of Rousse. Arrive in Silistra and choose between hiking to the fascinating Silistra Fort, visiting the ancient Alfatat Village, or enjoy a day of excursions along the unique Black Sea coast. Finally, in Bucharest, be guided around the city before journeying to the Village Open Air Museum to learn of Romanian culture and heritage. Sailing from Budapest to Bucharest, the 9-day Black Sea Explorer with Budapest calls in at Kalocsa, Osijek, Belgrade, the Iron Gates, Svishtov, Rousse, Silistra and Giurgiu, with prices starting from £4,200 per couple based on an October 11, 2023 departure on board the Scenic Pearl.
